Groups & Clubs at the Jesup

Contact us if your group would like to reserve regular meeting space at the library!

All in-person group and club meetings are currently suspended due to COVID-19.

Write on! Writers’ Group

Writers meet at the Jesup every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for skills development, to share the struggles and triumphs of writing, and to critique each other’s work. Nonfiction and fiction of all genres are welcome. The group is open to experienced writers and to beginners alike. The group is currently meeting remotely, please contact the library at 207-288-4245 for information on joining.

Get Your Knit On!

Knitters meet at the Jesup every Thursday at 6 p.m. It’s a terrific group of folks who welcome newcomers, whether to the group or to the craft of knitting. Anyone is encouraged to drop in. The group is currently meeting remotely, please contact the library at 207-288-4245 for information on joining.

Girls Who Code

“Teach a girl to code, and she’ll change the world” is the philosophy of this smart, creative group of young coders who meet regularly at the Jesup. We love hosting their meetings so much that we even let them take over the Jesup’s Facebook page for a week! Visit GWC’s Facebook page to learn more about the group.

Acadia Astronomical Society

The Acadia Astronomical Society, an astronomy club, meets on the second Wednesday of every month at the Jesup beginning at 6:30 p.m., followed by an astronomy program at 7 p.m. Beginning observers and other new members are welcome. Meetings and programs are open to everyone. The club supports the Jesup’s telescope program and offers clinics and presentations at the library. Members also volunteer with area organizations to provide telescopic observing and outreach events throughout the region.

Community Partnerships

The Jesup prides itself on wide-ranging, diverse collaborations with local businesses, nonprofits and civic groups.

We offer meeting space, co-host programs, take part in cooperative planning initiatives, host annual performances and events, serve as a civic gathering space, store archival materials, receive and exhibit artwork on loan, incubate and support new clubs and initiatives, and more. Please contact Lila Miller if you would like to discuss partnering with the Jesup or using its spaces.
